It's best to leave the doll in its original box, especially if you are collecting for investment purposes. Of course, many collectors do like to take their dolls out of the box and display them in their home. If you want to do this, reserve a special location for the box and literature that came with it. If you ever decide to sell your doll, you will have the original box which will definitely contribute to its monetary value.

Never modify your porcelain dolls collection in any way. This means changing the clothing and/or hairstyle is a definite don't. Doing this can seriously alter the value. You should try not to handle your dolls more than necessary due to the natural oils on your fingers. If you pack your dolls away, make sure you wrap them in acid free tissue paper and take precautions to protect the dolls' clothing from moth damage. Moths love to chew holes in fabric, and the last thing you want is your collectible dolls to get holes in their clothes.
